Description

MegaETH is a new Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 that changes how blockchain apps work with state. Instead of using the typical block-and-batch method, it uses a streaming execution environment and a mix of different node types. This setup allows contracts to read and respond to on-chain updates with very little delay.

This design makes MegaETH useful for situations where speed is important. Game studios could offer multiplayer games with less lag. Decentralized exchanges and derivatives platforms can try more detailed order matching and risk management. Real-time oracles and streaming data feeds are more helpful because contracts can use up-to-date information without complex off-chain systems. Teams building social or live apps on-chain can also benefit, since the platform aims to make state changes feel instant for users.

MegaETH was developed by MegaLabs and stayed quiet before launching publicly. In mid-2024, it announced a $20 million seed round, which helped the team move from research to public testnets and developer tools. The public testnet has shown off state-sync and execution experiments. Later, token sales and market activity brought more media attention as the project opened up to wider funding.  Its final place in the market will depend on how apps and integrations develop over the next year.

The network’s token, $MEGA, is not yet in circulation, but it will be used to pay gas fees, take part in governance, earn staking rewards when available, and support incentive programs for developers and users. MEGA will help start activity and keep long-term contributors engaged through planned incentives.

That said, investors wanting to buy MEGA tokens early can do so privately via over-the-counter (OTC) desks. Acquire.Fi’s crypto secondaries marketplace can connect verified buyers with early backers and even MegaETH team members who are looking to sell MEGA OTC.

The marketplace works both ways. If you’re a token holder, you can sell MEGA tokens OTC by browsing active listings and making an offer directly to the seller or buyer behind the deal.

And if none of the existing offers meet your needs, you can easily create a custom Buy or Sell offer with your preferred valuation and transaction limits. From there, our team helps surface your offer, introduces the right counterparties, and supports a secure, seamless OTC transaction from start to finish.
