Description

AltLayer is an open, decentralized protocol for launching application-specific rollups, founded in 2021 and based in Singapore. It introduced Restaked Rollups, which take existing rollups built on any major rollup stack and add enhanced security, decentralization, interoperability, and crypto-economic fast finality. Think of it as a franchise model for blockchains: you bring the execution environment, AltLayer provides shared security and tooling.

AltLayer solves the problem that building a production-grade rollup from scratch requires significant infrastructure investment most application teams cannot justify. Its Rollups-as-a-Service platform removes that barrier. It offers a no-code dashboard built on its core Beacon Layer that lets developers launch customized rollups with fraud proofs or zero-knowledge proofs quickly. Supported stacks include OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, ZKSync ZK Stack, Polygon CDK, and Starknet’s SN Stack.

The restaked rollup architecture goes beyond deployment. In Q1 2025, AltLayer reported about $8.2 billion in total value locked across its Actively Validated Service ecosystem and expanded its Rollups-as-a-Service clients to include Starknet rollups. Partnerships in 2025 included Astar Network, LogX, Xterio, and Polkadot native rollup deployments, showing adoption across DeFi, gaming, and cross-chain infrastructure.

AltLayer has also pivoted toward AI-native infrastructure. In 2025, it launched Autonome, a platform for launching AI agents within secure enclaves that generate proofs verifying agent authenticity, and Rumour.app, a platform converting market signals into tradable opportunities. The company also launched Wizard, a no-code rollup deployment tool, and began a SOC 2 Type II security audit, positioning itself for enterprise adoption in 2026.

AltLayer raised $21.6 million across three funding rounds. The $14.4 million Series A in February 2024 was co-led by Polychain Capital and Hack VC. Other participants included OKX Ventures, HashKey Capital, Bankless Ventures, Primitive Ventures, SevenX, Mask Network, IOSG, and TRGC. The seed round in July 2022 was also led by Polychain Capital. Binance is also an investor, giving AltLayer direct access to one of the largest exchange ecosystems globally. Polychain Capital led two consecutive rounds, signaling sustained conviction in the project’s direction rather than a one-time bet.

Luke Pearson, General Partner at Polychain Capital, publicly praised AltLayer’s research and development efforts on restaked rollup technology. That level of public endorsement from a fund known for deep technical due diligence carries real weight in the developer community.

ALT is the native governance and utility token of the AltLayer protocol. Network participants use ALT tokens to pay protocol fees, which keeps the token central to the ecosystem’s functionality rather than purely speculative. ALT holders vote on governance proposals that shape the protocol’s direction, fee structures, and supported rollup stacks. In Q1 2025, ALT was listed on major exchanges and became cross-chain compatible via LayerZero’s OFT standard. The cross-chain compatibility expansion means ALT can flow across ecosystems, broadening both liquidity and utility beyond the Ethereum-centric environment where AltLayer originally launched.

ALT trades on centralized cryptocurrency exchanges for standard purchases. For large token amounts, locked allocations, or SAFT notes, Acquire.Fi’s OTC and Secondaries Marketplace gives you a direct path to verified counterparties without going through open market order books.

You can buy Altlayer tokens OTC on Acquire.Fi by reviewing active sell listings or submitting a new Buy listing with your preferred valuation and token amount.

You can also sell Altlayer tokens OTC on Acquire.Fi by matching with an active Buy listing or submitting a new Sell listing with your asking price and the quantity you want to move.

Once submitted, Acquire.Fi takes it from there. The team runs background checks, issues non-disclosure agreements, and makes the introduction. You and your counterparty handle due diligence and payment settlement. Acquire.Fi is not a broker-dealer, but the team will actively support both sides at every step to get the deal across the line.
