Gunzilla is an independent AAA video game studio founded in March 2020, best known for developing Off The Grid, a free-to-play cyberpunk battle royale shooter available on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game combines extraction mechanics, third-person shooting, and battle royale gameplay for matches with up to 150 players. It is set in a dystopian cyberpunk future on a fictional island called Teardrop Island. What separates Gunzilla from other game studios is that it built its own blockchain from the ground up to power a player-owned in-game economy.
At the helm is CEO Vlad Korolev, who previously co-developed Warface, a multiplayer shooter. Alongside him is Chief Strategy Officer Alexander Zoll, formerly the studio leader at Crytek Kyiv. Oscar-nominated film director Neill Blomkamp, known for District 9 and Elysium, serves as Chief Creative Officer. Sci-fi author Richard K. Morgan, whose Altered Carbon series became a Netflix show, wrote the game’s narrative. This is not a typical crypto startup with a gaming skin on top. It is a serious game studio that happens to run a blockchain.
Gunzilla built GUNZ as a dedicated Layer 1 blockchain on top of Avalanche, customized for gaming with seamless gameplay, in-game tokens as gas fees, and an intuitive experience for both Web3 and traditional players. Think of it as a dedicated gaming server where every transaction is verifiable on-chain. Other studios can build on GUNZ using its SDK and white-label tools, including a built-in companion app, marketplace, and NFT minting engine.
The platform’s core purpose is to give players genuine ownership of what they earn. GUNZ lets players turn in-game items into NFTs that are legally assigned to them, recorded permanently on the blockchain, and tradeable on the in-game marketplace or external platforms. Weapons, character customization items, hideout upgrades, and loot extracted from matches can all be minted and sold. Blockchain participation is optional, so traditional gamers can play the full game without using a wallet.
Off The Grid entered early access on October 8, 2024, achieving over 12 million sign-ups, 120,000 concurrent Twitch viewers at peak, and more than 500,000 daily active users in its first month. It won Game of the Year at the 2024 GAM3S.GG Awards, along with Best Shooter, Best Action Game, and Best Multiplayer Game. Rolling Stone included it in its top 10 games to play during the holidays. By any measure, it is the most successful blockchain game launched to date.
Gunzilla raised $76 million across two major rounds. The first, $46 million in August 2022, was led by Republic Capital with participation from Animoca Brands, Griffin Gaming Partners, Jump Crypto, and Twitch co-founder Justin Kan. The second, $30 million in March 2024, was led by CoinFund and Avalanche’s Blizzard Fund, with participation from Republic Capital and Morningstar Ventures. VanEck, the global asset manager, also invested in Gunzilla Games through its private crypto fund in October 2024. Delphi Ventures became the largest validator on the GUNZ network and co-founded the GUNZ Foundation, a nonprofit overseeing token and mainnet governance.
The GUNZ Network and its native GUN token launched on March 31, 2025, with GUN immediately listed on Binance. The total supply is 10 billion tokens. GUN powers in-game payments, NFT trading on the GUNZ marketplace, ecosystem governance, and validator rewards. Players can also use GUN for Battle Passes, subscription services, and hex decoding fees within Off The Grid. Gunzilla committed to using 30% of game revenue to buy back GUN tokens, with a portion burned, creating a deflationary loop tied directly to the game’s financial performance. As more studios build on GUNZ, the token’s utility expands across every new title in the ecosystem.
GUN trades on centralized cryptocurrency exchanges for standard purchases. For large token amounts, locked tokens, or SAFT notes, Acquire.Fi’s OTC and Secondaries Marketplace is the right venue.
You can buy Gunzilla tokens OTC on Acquire.Fi by engaging with existing sell listings in the marketplace, or you can submit a new Buy listing with your preferred valuation and token amount.
You can also sell Gunzilla tokens OTC if you hold a position and want to exit. Engage with an existing Buy listing or submit a new Sell listing with your asking price and the quantity you want to move.
Once you submit, Acquire.Fi takes it from there. The team conducts background checks, issues NDAs, and introduces you to your counterparty. You handle due diligence and payment settlement, and Acquire.Fi stays in your corner throughout to help both sides close.
